Position Summary:
The Vice President (VP) of Fund Accounting leads and oversees all fund accounting operations and ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting for investment funds. This role involves strategic leadership, compliance oversight, client management, and coordination with auditors, regulators, and internal teams. The VP is responsible for implementing best practices in fund accounting operations and managing teams to deliver exceptional service to clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy:
- Lead the fund accounting department across multiple fund structures (e.g., hedge, private equity, mutual, or real estate funds).
- Collaborate with senior leadership on strategic planning, growth initiatives, and process improvements.
- Financial Oversight:
- Ensure accurate and timely NAV calculations, financial statements, investor reporting, and expense allocations.
- Supervise month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Team Management:
- Manage and mentor fund accounting managers and analysts.
- Oversee team performance, training, and development to maintain high standards of technical proficiency and client service.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations:
- Serve as the main point of contact for fund managers, auditors, custodians, and third-party administrators.
- Address complex client inquiries and resolve escalated issues.
- Risk, Compliance & Audit:
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., SEC, GAAP, IFRS, AIFMD).
- Lead audit processes and liaise with external auditors.
- Technology & Efficiency:
- Evaluate and implement accounting systems and tools to optimize operations.
- Drive automation initiatives to increase accuracy and reduce turnaround times.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation required; CFA or MBA is a plus.
- Public accounting experience highly recommended, especially with a Big 4 or top-tier firm.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in fund accounting, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Deep understanding of fund structures, performance fees, valuation methods, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in private equity and real estate investment funds is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in fund accounting software (e.g., Geneva, Investran, Yardi, eFront, or similar).
- Strong leadership, analytical, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels.
